Skd884
Hi everyone, I’ve recently arranged to purchase a 2019 BMW 5 Series through Glencon Transport (they’re in Belfast). Supposedly it’s a repossessed car they picked up at auction, and they’ve promised delivery to Leeds within about a week. Price looks very competitive compared to local dealers. Has anyone actually dealt with them before? Cheers, Matt
Alex1978
Not personally, no, but on Google the reviews look okay. Always wise to double-check before handing over big sums.
CheresX
I actually bought a Lexus IS300h through Glencon Transport back in September. The process was fairly straightforward. Delivery took nine days (they said 7 originally), but I had the 10 day inspection window once it arrived. My mechanic gave it a full once-over, everything checked out fine, and I decided to keep it. So a slight delay but overall I’d say it went smoothly and they did exactly what they said they would.
CodeCrusader
I’m a bit old fashioned when it comes to cars to be honest. I like to see what I’m buying before I part with any money, online only deals make me nervous, even with guarantees.
Skd884
I did ask about viewing the car in person they told me I was welcome to come over to Belfast if I wished, and even offered to collect me from the airport and take me to their unit to see it. To be honest, was quite a journey for me so I decided to go with delivery instead
Mistral
I went over to their warehouse/unit in Belfast last summer. It’s not far from George Best Airport, handy enough spot, and a bloke called Chris showed me round. I’d actually booked in for an 2018 A4, but when I walked past a Skoda Superb they had there I just fell for it straight away. Asked Chris if I could take it out and, luckily, it was available, he said their cars don’t hang about long stock’s usually gone in a few days. I ended up paying by bank transfer (they don’t do cash)
PixelMaster
I’m still not sure I’d be comfortable buying something as big as a car online, even from a company with reviews. Too many horror stories about people getting stung if I ever used Glencon Transport, I’d probably only do it after visiting their Belfast site in person. Ortsmatt
Picked up a repossessed Audi Q7 from them. The thing I liked was how clear they were about payments they’ve got a segregated account system so you’re not just wiring money into a black hole. Transparency is rare in this line of trade so I was impressed.
WordSmith
My experience was alright overall not perfect though. Purchased a Qashqai from them a few weeks ago, the delivery took almost two weeks instead of the week they’d said, and the car had a few more scratches than shown in the ad and photos. But to be fair, when I raised it with them, they offered a small refund to cover paint repairs I can’t complain too much. They were quick to reply and did try to make it right
Skd884
Update time, my BMW 5 Series arrived today! The driver rang me half an hour before showing up, which helped as my street’s a bit tight for lorries. Handed everything over properly, car looks exactly as described. Relief more than anything.
Skd884
Glad yours went well. I’ve been considering them but I’m still weighing things up, the 10 days money back option is reassuring, but I suppose I just like the old-school way of buying from a forecourt where you drive it away the same day.
